Earliest Knitting That I Have

I have started this blog as a way to record the "Sweaters from My Closet"! A good friend of mine ask me last year how many sweaters I had knit. As I have been knitting fairly consistently somewhere in the vicinity of 45 years, it is difficult to guess:) I did count the ones that I still had in my closet and that was 74. (I have added a few more since.) I am going to try and dust off the cobwebs to tell some of the sweater stories here. I will start with the vest below. 

I am estimating that I knit this around the age of 12, by the size of it. (30" bust, 20" long) I do remember going to the local yarn/needlepoint store (more needlepoint, crossstitch, and crewel kits than yarn) with my mom to buy the yarn. Some form of acrylic along the line of Red Heart. I think I bought all the colors they had! This would have been in the early seventies. I believe the pattern was from one of the ladies magazines such as Good Housekeeping. I was so very proud of this vest! Even crocheted around the arm holes and neck. Funny, I don't remember ever being this small and thin!!
