Sweatshirt Sweater

Above is one of the newer sweaters in my closet. Knit in 2010 I believe. Actually, I use it more like a sweatshirt around the house:) It is very soft and cozy but the neck line is much to deep and wide. Sometimes it will even slip off one of my shoulders:( Every time I put it on I think about how to fix it. Ha! That will be a recurring theme on this here blog. I always feel as if I could have done something better on each sweater!
The pattern is Bedford by Michele Wang knit with Knit Pick's City Tweed.
I have used this yarn a few times and the sweater did grow after wearing.

Below is a pic of sweaters I wore last week. Kept them out of the closet to take photos. All good intentions:) Maybe this week!

Newest Sweater

So, I started with the oldest knit I had in the closet. Therefore, I thought I would share the newest knit off the needles:) I began this sweater the Sunday before hurricane Sandy hit the east coast. It has been, and continues to be, a very difficult time for many people. We were very lucky and survived without any damage and power outage. Lots of time to knit as school was canceled for the week. The pattern is Drift, a free pattern by Berroco. I had the Cascade 220 yarn in the stash and wanted a simple knit. It worked up beautifully, though I was worried about the fit as I was working.

This is not unusual! Even after all these years of knitting I still second guess myself most of the time. Luckily, this time I was wrong and all came out well. I wore it to school today and stayed warm and toasty. As well as getting many compliments:) My students recognized it, as I had brought it in to school to work on. I went to JoAnn Fabrics and got the buttons Saturday. They are a bit heavy but I think they work well with the sweater.
As I begin this blogging journey I find myself thinking of how to proceed. I think I will just post as I wear a sweater or as one falls off the shelves:)
Cheers and thanks for reading:)

Earliest Knitting That I Have

I am estimating that I knit this around the age of 12, by the size of it. (30" bust, 20" long) I do remember going to the local yarn/needlepoint store (more needlepoint, crossstitch, and crewel kits than yarn) with my mom to buy the yarn. Some form of acrylic along the line of Red Heart. I think I bought all the colors they had! This would have been in the early seventies. I believe the pattern was from one of the ladies magazines such as Good Housekeeping. I was so very proud of this vest! Even crocheted around the arm holes and neck. Funny, I don't remember ever being this small and thin!!

Until next time, happy knitting!
